Mac Users

If you are a Mac User we highly suggest you record a video on your desktop and then upload the file into the Vipe system. Mac software does not allow you to reliably record videos directly on the Vipe system. Mac users have noticed that sometimes the sound will record, sometimes it won't and sometimes the sound will cut out in the middle of the video.

There are two options for recording video, depending on the Mac you have.

Option 1

If you have a Mac that runs on Leopard (if you purchased your computer in the past year or so this is most likely what you have) then the easiest way to create a video is using Photobooth. Here are the few simple steps it will take:

  1. Click on the Macintosh HD icon on your desktop
  2. Click on Applications
  3. Select Photobooth
  4. On the bottom left of the Photobooth application there are 3 buttons, click the right most one to enter into video mode
  5. Hit Record
  6. Record your video
  7. Hit the Record button again to stop the recording
  8. Drag and drop the video icon to your desktop

Go back to Vipe

  1. Select the  icon to upload a file
  2. Confirm the selection and then click the "Browse" button to upload the video file
  3. Find your video file on the "Desktop" and hit "Select." Your video will upload into Vipe

Option 2

The other simple solution to record the video is using your built in webcam using iMovie and then easily upload the file into the Vipe system.

Instructions for how to use your Mac to record a video in iMovie and then upload it to Vipe are below:

  1. Open iMovie HD (if iMovie is not in your desktop menu, then click on the Macintosh HD > Applications > iMovie HD)
  2. Underneath the video screen, select the camera icon (move the button away from the "scissor" icon)
  3. Click "Record with iSight" to begin recording your video. When you are done recording simply click the video screen to stop the recording.
  4. Drag your movie to your Desktop. (Note: make sure the icon says it is a "Movie")

Go back to Vipe

  1. Select the  icon to upload a file
  2. Confirm the selection and then click the "Browse" button to upload the video file
  3. Find your video file on the "Desktop" and hit "Select." Your video will upload into Vipe

That's it! You can now have high quality webcam videos in the Vipe system if you are using a Mac.
